One way to increase earning potential for court reporters is developing the ability to write accurately at increasing rates of speed. To do that takes practice and more practice. And not just any practice, but practice that yields a higher translation and lower conflict rate while writing. The cleaner your writing, the more pages you produce, and the more pages you produce, the higher your income potential.Â
We all know how much court reporters love to practice, right? Not to mention the fact of having to drag out your steno machine and getting it set up ready to write. Just doing that alone discourages many from practicing. In the past, we’ve resorted to an air machine — like an air guitair: Practicing the strokes on our lap, on the counter, on the dashboard, etc.
Well, today we said our goodbyes to our air machine and said hello the the Briefcatcher. A flattened replica of the steno keyboard that slips easily into your case or your car.  Take it with you and practice during your down time between cases. You could even take it with you while on vacation — although that would defeat the whole purpose of taking a vacation, wouldn’t it?
We have already ordered a few sets of the Briefcatcher. Take the time to peruse their website, www.Briefcatcher.com. We’d be interested in hearing back from you.
