By providing CART services for one of the scheduled presenters, All Good Reporters participated at this year’s Sheltering Services Summit on May 7, 2015,  hosted at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando. We also provided their coffee, tea and bread service to start off their summit with a jolt of caffeine and danish!
For those of you not familiar with a sheltering services summit, the summit introduces participants to how the county and its partners provide services in a shelter during a disaster and the resources that are available.
The planning meeting for the summit was the first time we had been at the Second Harvest Food Bank building and we must say, the tall ceilings, brightly painted walls and massive windows in the lobby make quite an impression. Â The donation wall highlighted the names of many prominent firms and people in the Central Florida area.
Since our presenter would be answering questions in a question-and-answer format, we had our captions split between a main screen at the front of the community room and an LCD monitor to the left of the podium. Â That way, our presenter could effortlessly read the captions and answer any questions posed to him. Â Our CART provider used TextOnTop, the wireless captioning software. Â No wires or cables, thank you very much! Â She updated her job dictionary in advance with the speaker names and category topics provided by Orange County’s Office of Emergency Management.
Once all the equipment was in place and everything tested, the summit started as scheduled and our CART provider performed flawlessly. Â Click here for a quick look!
