New Year's Day, the First Chapter of Opportunity

With the dawn of the New Year, we’ve seen quite a few resolutions and motivational words of wisdom.   One of our personal favorites is:

“We will open the book.  Its pages are blank.  We are going to put words on them ourselves.  The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”    Edith Lovejoy Pierce

We also enjoy reading Richard Branson’s blog.  We’re drawn to it mainly because of his “Screw It, Let’s do It!” attitude and adventurous spirit.

We, too, have an adventurous spirit. We once had a last-minute opportunity to fly to London to report some depositions overseas.  We had never been out of the State of Florida, much less the United States.  We flew Virgin Airlines on a $99 ticket.  It wasn’t easy carting all our steno equipment through the airports, but it was one of the best flights we’ve ever had.

Richard is also a great fan of lists — as are we.  Number one on our list for 2013 is to thank everyone who helped make 2012 such a success for all of us here at All Good Reporters.  We had a few missteps, but immediately righted our course.

Next is becoming better organized.  We’ve already started in that direction by using more cloud-based applications like DropBox.com, Shoeboxed.com and Google ICloud for scheduling depositions and heariangs,  and storing our electronic files and business receipts.

Lastly, while we are great fans of the internet, email and the like, we are stepping up our game and looking for more face-to-face time with all our friends, clients and associates in the upcoming year.  So be sure to look for us at the next OCBA get together.  We’re looking forward to seeing you!
